Learn how datasource connections, private connectors, semantic definitions, reports, dashboards, and review fit together in SynapsQ.
Datasource or private connector?
A datasource describes the database or other source you want to use. A private connector is software installed where that source can be reached; it carries authorized jobs through an outbound connection. They work together, not as competing choices.
Before connecting a database
Confirm the database type, endpoint, authentication, TLS requirements, and least-privilege account. Allowlist the actual connecting system where required. Do not publish passwords or open a database broadly just to complete setup.
From data to a report
Identify the reporting period, grain, units, and expected totals. Define the necessary semantic mappings, create the report, and review available source evidence. Supported drivers and package release status must be checked in the application.
